Not only for its unavoidable naughtiness, but also because of its razor-sharp fix on the truth. Because I do in fact have a bottom, it periodically leads me to wonder how the holier-than-thou crowd ever manage to rationalize their own toileting experiences. Personally, I didn't ask to be built that way (more mucking in with the masses), but isn't it interesting that my arms (the left one in particular) are just long enough to enable me to wipe my bum as my unashamed mother taught me? Denial in this department doesn't make an awful lot of sense. My thanks to Nicola for shedding light in the darkest corner of the Christian condition.

This is often in the form of 'no one else is as good/spiritual/close to God as us.' This seems to be quite cult-like behaviour on the part of the RC church.

My fear is that should I accidentally just creep over the speed limit a teeny bit, or perform a somewhat ill-judged manoeuvre in front of Joe Public, I'll hear him yelling at Mrs Public "DID YOU SEE THAT!!! AND CALLS HIMSELF A CHRISTIAN!!!!!!!"

Christians we may be, but I wonder if Mr & Mrs Public realise that we're still human, and make mistakes. I don't want to be the piece of cod that passeth all understanding.

Sorry. I'll go now.

We should try to look beyond the clothes - whether it's a bishop or chav or pauper or dentist or printer etc etc (can I say chav? . . . can I say dentist?) - and get to know the human bean within.

I'm delighted to be able to confirm that a knitted nativity scene was available. Other subjects I can't comment on. I'm with you on the crucifixion thing. My mother-out-law [bless 'er] knitted the whole caboodle for our children. We still get the wretched, sorry, wonderful, thing out every Christmas and end up with straw all over the hall after a day or so. We have the scene set up in an adapted cardboard box. The kids, at the far end of their teens now, still like it.

I think most of the gowns warn were designed for use before churches had heating surely there not need now. I am bemused as to what purpose they possibly have.
