I don't think you will be surprise to hear that I noticed the reporting on Mr Blair's faith. The cynic in me wonders how much this new-found publicity has to do with his new role in seeking to bring peace to a troubed religious area; but perhaps those thoughts are unkind and unworthy, particularly as his faith has been reported in a number of ways over the years.

What I particularly noticed was something that Peter Mandleson said about him, which was something like "his faith is deeply rooted and of course it shapes all of his life." That kind of faith is my kind of faith. I don't want to align Christianity with any kind of politics; I think there are Christians in many walks of life; but to be a Christian at work, any work, means that your faith will shape all that you do; whether you collect bins or taxes, run a taxi or a country. That's what Jesus does.
